For orders which contain items which must be kept cold in transit, Foods of New York uses FedEx Standard Overnight for deliveries within the Continental US and USPS Express Mail for deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. FedEx picks up from our office Monday - Thursday at approximately 3:30PM ET. Packages shipping via Express Mail are taken to the Post Office at approximately 3:30PM ET Monday - Wednesday only.

Orders which consist solely of condiments are shipped via USPS Priority Mail in Post Office supplied Priority Mail boxes. The condiment items do not need to be kept cold in transit. These orders are shipped Monday - Friday and are picked up by our mail carrier each morning.

Delivery is available within the Continental US, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico only. We do not export. We do not ship to APO boxes.

Orders containing items which must be kept cold in transit are shipped in reusable insulated containers with reusable ice packs. The containers are made of Styrofoam with walls at least 1" thick. These containers are packed in sturdy corrugated boxes to prevent damage.

Our Package Deals include all packing and shipping costs for orders shipped within the Continental US. An additional $15-$40 will be added for delivery to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

The prices listed for items on the A la Carte page do not include shipping. A charge of $80 is added to all A la Carte orders shipped within the Continental US. An additional $15-$40 must be added for delivery to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. This additional charge will not be reflected during the checkout process.

A la Carte orders which do not fit into a single shipping container will not be shipped. We will contact you to discuss any such orders.

There are a number of issues which determine the cost of shipping:

• Weight - The vast majority of orders we ship are in the 15-20 pound range, not 2-3 lbs like a book, toy or video game might weigh
• Dimensional weight - Let's say you order one pack of knishes and 1 pack of hot dogs. Even though the order may only weigh 10 lbs, the box that we need to use to ship the order is "dimensioned" at 18 lbs by the shipping companies
• Perishable items - We use Express shipping to preserve the temperature of the items in the containers. This is different from shipping a non-perishable item which will not loose quality regardless of how long it sits in a box
• Distance - The vast majority of our customers live in the Sun Belt and California which means that the packages we ship travel long distances
• Packaging - The costs of the insulated containers and ice packs required to ship the orders is included in the shipping cost. This accounts for $10-$12 of the cost
• Hidden charges - All of the carriers add a fuel surcharge and residential delivery surcharge. FedEx's fuel surcharge has been as high as 32% of the delivery charge and the residential delivery surcharges can reach $5.50 more. We must pass these charges along
